Switzerland

Switzerland is located in the middle of Western Europe, bordered by Germany in the
north, France in the west, Italy in the south, Austria and the Principality of Liechtenstein
in the east.

26 Cantons make up the Confederation of Switzerland. Switzerland offers a great variety
of landscapes; small villages nestled in the mountains, snow covered peaks, beautiful lakes and rivers. In addition, you will also find vibrant cities such as Zurich, Basel, Bern, St. Gallen and Geneva.

Languages
The four Swiss national languages are German (which is the most widespread spoken), French, Italian and also Rhaeto- Romansh. This is a special part of the wealth of Swiss culture, and reflects the geographical diversity of the country. You will notice strong Italian and French influences when travelling to different parts of Switzerland. Travel by road

from Lugano to Chur and then to Geneva and the road signs are written in Italian, then German, and then French. (In the town of Biel/Bienne all signs are in both French and German).
