1. The small city of Chur, intricately detailed and carefully preserved, is not only the capital of the Grisons canton, but also the oldest city in Switzerland.

Archaeological findings in the city date back as far as the Stone Age. The Old Town somehow resembles the images found on an Advent calendar, as the small houses with their pointed rooftops are nestled closely together and quaintly form bent lanes.

Shops and cafés alternate through the narrow alleys, inviting the passerby to linger and browse.

The more modern part of the town is located around the main train station. As an important transport junction for national and local railways as well as for the bus service, Chur is the connecting city between the north and the south. With the south of Switzerland only 2 hours away, Chur often has warm and tropical temperatures both during the day and in the evening.
