Since time immemorial people have travelled the world looking for authentic experiences, mutual exchange and emotionally rich moments. How then can digital innovations that are often so anonymous, standardised and lifeless, enrich the world of hospitality? This central question was presented to a group of students in an inaugural Trend Forum organised by Selina Suter, Ricarda Müller and Isabel Näpflin (all HF6 students) on Thursday 13th March 2014. The varied programme highlighted both the challenges in e-commerce as well as the latest developments in the industry such as Hoxell and Airbnb. The afternoon session was focussed on self-marketing on online platforms.

A first conclusion: From personally compiled contents of the minibar to 3D Print of Clothing: The Creation of individual products and services will have a major impact on the future business model.
