The Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy covers your interactions with SSTH (including EHL Holding SA and all companies part of the EHL Group), through our main website (www.ssth.ch), mobile applications and online platforms (altogether “SSTH Websites”), as well as through correspondence with SSTH.
The intended audience of our Websites does include minors (individuals under the age of 18), particularly college-bound students ages 16-18. Data we collect on SSTH Websites
SSTH Websites may ask you to provide different types of personal information depending upon the materials and services you wish to access. This information is provided at your discretion and collected in the ways defined below, and it is released by you in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.   1. Browsing
    When you visit or browse SSTH Websites, we do not collect any personally identifiable information. However, our sites do automatically recognize and collect certain non-personal information about your computer and connection, including the type of Internet browser you use, time spent on SSTH Websites, the pages visited and the IP address of your internet service provider (ISP). We will only use the information described above to monitor and improve our Websites, ensure that we provide you with the proper information, and for security purposes.   2. Brochure & document downloads
    Most of the brochures and other documents that are available for download on SSTH Websites do not require you to create an account. However, some downloads will prompt you to fill in a form with the following basic information: first name, last name and email address.
  3. Application & registration forms
    To access the online application, apply for one of SSTH’s programs, or request detailed information about certain courses, you may be asked to provide the following personal data: first and last name, email address, mailing address, phone numbers, program of interest and educational background. For some programs, you may also be asked to provide information about your current employer or employment history.
  4. Online Services and Marketing Communications
    Using SSTH Websites enables you to access various online services, such as surveys and applications (Online Services), provided by SSTH or through subcontractors. By downloading, accessing and/or using these Online Services, you expressly consent to the collection of personal data relevant to those services. SSTH assumes the responsibility of ensuring that these third-party providers (if any) comply with data protection laws and regulations. You can choose not to receive our emails and marketing communications any time. How we use the data collected
We keep a record of the personal information defined above to provide you with an excellent customer experience, including: providing an optimal experience and functionalities on the concerned SSTH Website, and providing relevant information about programs, news and events related to your inquiry. We do not sell, rent, lease or otherwise make available any personal information to third parties except as described above or with your consent. We reserve the right to disclose information to authorities when required to do so in connection with legal or regulatory proceedings. Additionally, the above mentioned personal information may be shared in the following ways:

  • Subcontractors
    SSTH uses subcontractors for certain services it provides, and your data may be shared with these subcontractors, solely and exclusively, to support SSTH services. Any personal information or data shared will be deleted by these subcontractors, once their services in relation to your data have been performed. SSTH ensures that these subcontractors review and accept to comply with our Privacy Policy.
  • Application form/Participants
    We will share your personal information with any third-party organizations and individuals delivering portions of SSTH programs and services. This information is limited to your contact details (first and last name, email address, mailing address, phone numbers) for the sole purpose of delivering SSTH programs and services. If you complete an SSTH program, your personal data will be shared with the SSTH alumni association. More details are provided in the alumni section below.

Links to Third-party Websites
Our Websites contain links to other sites. Although the SSTH logo and references to SSTH may appear on some third-party websites, this Privacy Policy applies only to information collected via SSTH Websites. Users are encouraged to read the privacy statements of every website that collects personally identifiable information. How SSTH protects your data at SSTH, we take every precaution to protect your personal information, online and offline. Any personal information that you submit via SSTH Websites is protected during transmission by an industry-standard high level of encryption TSL1.2. Our security certificate is available for you to consult online and you can learn more about this security from our security provider. The information you provide to us is stored on:

  • Our Servers hosted in Switzerland on the SSTH premises, controlled by SSTH in a secure environment, in a locked facility, or in the European Economic Area (EEA) zone in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Servers owned and/or controlled by SSTH for the purpose of processing data collected by third parties on behalf of SSTH, or in the EEA zone in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Your information provided for specific programs or Services may be stored outside Switzerland or EEA on hosted service providers’ cloud servers. This information is processed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and SSTH Privacy Policy by our different service providers. Specifically, SSTH enforces the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information transferred or located to the United States.

International Data Transfer
Personal information submitted on the Websites or via Services is generally processed by SSTH in Switzerland on our servers or on our hosted service providers’ cloud servers on our behalf. Sometimes, this data may be processed in other countries, and these countries may not have the same data protection laws as your country of residence. However, we will always protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy, wherever it is transferred.

Alumni directory
Upon successful completion of an SSTH program (degree program, course, or customized program) you automatically become an alumnus, and your personal information will become available to fellow SSTH alumni via the alumni directory and the SSTH alumni website platform. Such information will enable the SSTH alumni association and the regional ‘stamms’ to inform you of alumni events (reunions, conferences, etc.). You have the choice to be visible in the alumni directory, on the website platform and to the alumni ‘stamms’. The information displayed will include your first name, last name, programs and program year(s) attended; you can also provide additional information. You can, at any time, request full deletion of your data from the alumni directory. Changing and updating personal information You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of all personal information that you provide to SSTH and to ensure that such information remains accurate and up to date.

Data Retention
SSTH will store information about you in accordance with data retention regulations. You can ask SSTH to remove your information at any time. To access your personal information, get any information related to it, or have it modified, updated or deleted in whole or in part, please contact SSTH at privacy-ssth(at)ssth.ch. Upon request, your personal data, including your contact details shall be deleted from our marketing and alumni databases. However, data relating to your participation in or completion of a program at SSTH will remain available to you (i.e. transcripts, references) and may be provided, with your prior consent, to individuals or organizations who seek to verify your academic records. All other data shall be made anonymous and aggregated for statistical purposes. Such data may also remain on our back-up systems but will be inaccessible to SSTH staff or services for any business or operational purposes.

Changes or Updates to this Privacy Policy
SSTH’s Privacy Policy adheres to the requirements for data protection under Swiss law, including the rules, principles and obligations therein. Therefore, this document is subject to change following changes in the Swiss law. We may also need to change this Privacy Policy from time to time as we improve our Websites and Services. Material changes will be signaled with a notice on our Websites and/or by email (if you have registered your e-mail details with us) when we are required to do so by applicable law.
