Passugg, August 21 2019 - The Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (SSTH) in Passugg has been part of the EHL Education Group since 2013, the world-renowned Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. The well-known EHL brand not only penetrates the SSTH strategically inwards, but also expresses itself in a new outward appearance. All units will be re-formed uniformly under the EHL Group, thus strengthening their global positioning as a leading training group in hotel management training.

Since mid-June 2019, SSTH's affiliation with the EHL Education Group has also been visible in its new image and name. The SSTH now operates under the name EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality SSTH Passugg. But not only the name is changing, the hotel management school in Passugg is opening up a variety of new perspectives. The SSTH is part of a long-term global expansion strategy. The new presence with one of the absolute top brands in the hospitality industry will open up excellent prospects for the SSTH in the highly competitive market.

The educational landscape is becoming more and more networked and the dual education system is being brought into the world. This also corresponds to the request of former Federal Councillor Joseph Deiss in his message to the guests. Globally respected and recognised training courses, such as those offered by the SSTH, also promote the Swiss brand. Because, in his opinion, what makes "Swissness" special is first and foremost the know-how.

According to André Witschi (President of the Foundation and Board of Directors of EHL), major changes lie in EHL's DNA, it is always in motion and its further development has necessitated a reorientation of the brand. The EHL Education Group will continue to create and impart new knowledge, promote hospitality innovation and raise global standards in the field of hospitality within the scope of its range of products: the EHL Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne with programmes at university level, the EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (in Passugg) in the field of vocational and higher education.

The Passugg site thus remains true to its roots. Within EHL, it has been recognised that regional peculiarities must be taken into account - be it in Singapore, where a new campus is being built, or in the small, tranquil town of Passugg. "Think global, act local" is the recipe for success. Dr. Jürg Domenig (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SSTH) is very pleased to note at the rebranding ceremony that the hotel management schools are now making optimum use of joint synergies and the great strength of EHL. He sees that SSTH has manifested itself as an equal partner in the EHL Education Group with the new branding.

However, they did not rest on their laurels. According to Michael Hartmann (Managing Director/CEO of SSTH), the traditional educational offering has been enriched with the values of tomorrow; a common vision and strategy, now connects all units within the EHL Education Group. All activities are presented into the name of EHL. Plans include not only the development of new skills such as soft skills within an Experience Economy and the launch of innovative events such as Rhythm & Food or the "Flying Cow", but also the combined tourist development of the Passugg campus. Capacity is expected to double in the next 10 years.

Further highlights of the rebranding festivities were the official message of greeting by Hans Peter Märchy (Amt für Höhere Bildung, Kanton Graubünden) and the announcement by Margrith Raschein of the municipality of Churwalden of the renaming of the post bus stop in "Hotelfachschule Passugg". Both the canton and the municipality see the further development of the SSTH not only with goodwill, but also actively support it wherever possible.

It was a special honour to welcome Theo Ah Khing, owner of the romantic hotel "The Alpina" in Tschiertschen with his family and former Federal Councillor Joseph Deiss in Passugg as guests.
